Chemical peeling is a great way to help improve the appearance of your skin. It is commonly used in the treatment of acne, scarring, irregular pigmentation and sun damage changes such as fine lines under the eyes and around the mouth, age spots and dull, coarse texture. During a chemical peel, the chemical solution is applied to the skin surface which leads to very superficial peeling of the skin after several days. The newer skin that develops is smoother and less wrinkled. A series of chemical peel treatments is recommended based on the conditions being treated. Chemical peels are performed on the face, neck or hands. The treatments are very well tolerated and can be very relaxing. Very light chemical peels are referred to as facials. Deeper chemical peels have been largely replaced with the more reliable laser peels.

Dermaplaning is a simple and safe procedure for exfoliating the epidermis and ridding the skin of fine vellus hair (peach fuzz). When patients hear the word dermaplaning, they quickly associate the term with the procedure known as dermabrasion, and won’t even consider it as a possible treatment. Dermabrasion is a medical procedure in which the skin is abraded down to the dermis using a whisklike device. There are many complications associated with dermabrasion, including infections and scarring, which is why it is not commonly used anymore. Dermaplaning, on the other hand, is a simple shaving of the epidermis.
Removing epidermal skin also allows products to penetrate more readily into the deeper layers. Dermaplaning is most often used on patients with rough, dry skin, superficial hyperpigmentation, mild acne scarring, or fine lines and wrinkles. The treatment results in a more refined, smooth, “glowing” appearance.
- Provides deeper product penetration
- Removes soft facial hair that traps dirt and oils
- Promotes smoother skin
- Safe procedure for removing dead skin cells and “peachfuzz”
A facial is one of the best ways to take care of your skin, especially when it’s given by an experienced, knowledgeable esthetician. A facial cleans, exfoliates and nourishes the skin, promoting a clear, well-hydrated complexion, and can help your skin look younger.
Moreover, it is the best way to find out if your skin needs anything or how it is reacting to hormones, pollution, stress, and other elements. I know that you have your DIY tips to take care of your skin at home, but a professional can help you truly understand your skin. And, not to mention, that amazing facial massage not only makes your skin glow but also destresses you and helps you relax.

Laser Hair Removal
If you’re not happy with shaving, tweezing, or waxing to remove unwanted hair, laser hair removal may be an option worth considering. Laser hair removal is one of the most commonly done cosmetic procedures in the U.S. It beams highly concentrated light into hair follicles. Pigment in the follicles absorb the light. That destroys the hair.
Lasers are useful for removing unwanted hair from the face, leg, arm, underarm, bikini line, and other areas.
- Precision – Lasers can selectively target dark, coarse hairs while leaving the surrounding skin undamaged.
- Speed – Each pulse of the laser takes a fraction of a second and can treat many hairs at the same time. The laser can treat an area approximately the size of a quarter every second. Small areas such as the upper lip can be treated in less than a minute, and large areas, such as the back or legs, may take up to an hour.
- Predictability – Ninety percent of patients have permanent hair loss after an average of three to five sessions.
Surgical drainage of cystic acne lesions may be required at times, as well as the extraction of clogged pores also known as blackheads. Scarring resulting from acne is common and treatable. Our team is trained in both medical and surgical treatments of acne.
- Reduce scars
- Prevent mild acne from becoming severe
- Decrease the likelihood you’ll need stronger acne medicine
- Sidestep emotional distress
Aging Skin Treatment
Skin changes throughout life are due to both genetics and external factors. Sun damage leads to visible changes in the skin: thin skin, color changes, large pores, coarse texture, fine wrinkles and visible blood vessels. Dry skin may develop and bruising is more common. Sun damage can also lead to the formation of skin cancer and precancerous spots.
A medical evaluation with a dermatology specialist is important to accurately diagnose and treat aging skin. At illume we offers many aesthetic procedures that can aid in the treatment of aging and sun-damaged skin.
- Exfoliates the Skin at a Deeper Level
- Moisturizes Dehydrated Skin
- Improves the Texture and Tone of Your Skin
- Slows Down the Aging Process
BOTOX® Cosmetic injections are very popular for helping to relax those facial muscles that cause wrinkles. After a number of years wrinkles become more visible. This leads to a tired or stern look in some people. Treatment with Botox is painless and highly effective. Injections are administered to many areas: upper nose between the eyes, beside the eyes, and on the forehead. Brow shaping and treatment of oral frown lines, lip wrinkles, bunny lines on the nose, necklace lines and neck bands are offered.
- Treatment only takes minutes
- Smooths wrinkles in the forehead, crow’s feet, and between the eyes
- No downtime or recovery
- Botox is the number one selling product of its kind in the world

Bellafill’s tiny, polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) microspheres are suspended within a base of smooth collagen gel. Once injected, the collagen gel immediately reduces the look of smile lines. Over time, your body uses the microspheres in Bellafill to create a “scaffold” onto which your own natural collagen can develop. This collagen forms a foundation that adds volume to wrinkles, reducing their appearance – and giving you natural-looking results that feel soft and smooth for up to 5 years.
HIFU stands for High Intensity Focused Ultrasound. This relatively new technology is a non-surgical alternative to the facelift. Ultrasound technology is used to penetrate below the surface of the skin, approximately 3-4.5 mm deep, and encourages the tissue’s natural regenerative process of collagen growth. This results in tightening of the tissues of the treated area, creating a visible lift without the downtime that comes with a surgical face lift.
The lip filler dissolving procedure begins with the application of numbing cream to dull the burning sensation (often likened to bee stings) that is often experienced. Following the numbing cream, hyaluronidase is then injected into the lips with a series of tiny injections to dissolve the lip fillers. Whilst hyaluronidase begins to work immediately, the full effects are seen at two weeks after the procedure, once the swelling fully resolves. The procedure itself is relatively quick, taking approximately 10 minutes to perform.
Microneedling is a dermaroller procedure that uses small needles to prick the skin. The purpose of treatment is to generate new collagen and skin tissue for smoother, firmer, more toned skin. Microneedling is mostly used on the face and may treat various scars, wrinkles, and large pores.
Toggle A liquid facelift involves injecting dermal fillers into the skin to plump up the skin. It differs from a surgical facelift in that it doesn’t involve cutting into the skin. The goal of a liquid facelift is to reduce sagging and wrinkles. It can also: plump up lips.
Venus Freeze is a non-invasive treatment that combines Radio Frequency (RF) and Magnetic Pulses into a technology called (MP)². Venus Freeze treatments are effective in circumference reduction, improving cellulite, skin tightening and reducing the appearance of wrinkles. Hyperhidrosis (hi-pur-hi-DROE-sis) is abnormally excessive sweating that’s not necessarily related to heat or exercise. You may sweat so much that it soaks through your clothes or drips off your hands. Besides disrupting normal daily activities, this type of heavy sweating can cause social anxiety and embarrassment.
The HydraFacial is the only hydra-dermabrasion procedure that uses patented technology to cleanse, extract, and hydrate.
Traditionally, a rhinoplasty is a surgery that changes the shape of the nose. It requires anesthesia and considerable healing time because of bruising and swelling, but the results are permanent. On the other hand, a liquid nose job (or non-surgical rhinoplasty) uses small needles to inject filler and/or Botox to change the shape of the nose without any invasive surgery. As a result, the effects are temporary.
Scarring comes in many forms. Dermatology evaluation is essential since the treatment of each scar is very individualized for the type of scar and other factors. Most commonly, scarring from acne is treated with a combination of topical therapies with surgery and laser treatments. Stretch marks that are red may be treated with laser and topical therapies.
RADIESSE® and RADIESSE® (+) are dermal fillers that are used for smoothing moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds (the creases that extend from the corner of your nose to the corner of your mouth). RADIESSE® is also used for correcting volume loss in the back of the hands.
Injectable dermal fillers have been growing in popularity as a minimally invasive alternative to facial cosmetic surgery. According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), soft tissue fillers were the second most popular non-surgical cosmetic procedure in 2016, with 2.6 million treatments performed in the U.S.
The Palomar Icon combines a fractional laser (similar in intensity to the Fraxel re:store) and intense pulsed light (IPL) technology. There are a variety of handheld attachments to perform different types of treatments, including wrinkle reduction, hair removal, acne and scar improvement, fractional skin resurfacing, vascular and pigmentation treatments, and photorejuvenation (IPL). Since the machine has such a wide range of capabilities, it can provide different levels of treatments and meet various comfort and downtime requirements according to a patient’s needs.
Lip augmentation is used to enhance the appearance of small or thin lips. Since lips lose volume as we age, full lips are associated with youthful vigor and sexy image. Lip augmentation is an excellent way to achieve voluptuous, plump, and pouty lips. It also provides proportion and balance to your facial features, helping you feel better and more confident about the way you look.
Emsculpt is an FDA-approved, non-invasive, electromagnetic procedure that claims to eliminate fat cells and tighten muscles in your abs and butt. All you have to do is lie down at our office, get hooked up to a machine, and sit back and relax as it emits electromagnetic pulses that strengthen your muscle fibers and burn unwanted fat.

Lines, folds and wrinkles develop with aging and sun exposure. Part of this is natural aging process, with the deeper fatty tissues changing so that the line folds on either side of the mouth may be accentuated with smiling or other facial expressions.
These changes can be treated effectively and painlessly with fillers such as Radiesse® and Juvéderm®. Wrinkles and skin folds may develop in places such as above the lip or between the eyes. In these cases, BOTOX® Cosmetic may be used to relax these muscles. At other times, wrinkles may be the effect of sun damage, and photorejuvenation is recommended.
KYBELLA® is administered as a series of injections to the treatment area under the chin, destroying fat cells and producing gradual results. Everyone’s chin profile is different, so your physician will tailor* treatment to you. The number of treatment sessions will vary based on the amount of fat under the chin and your treatment goals.
Filler in the hands is used like filler in other places, to cause a rejuvenating effect by giving more volume and plumpness to an area which has lost some of that. With aging, there’s a loss of collagen and elastin, and the skin gets thinner, and in the hand, when that happens, you can see the tendons and the veins in the hands more prominently, and people associate that with aging. By using filler you can plump the back of the hand to make the tendons and veins less visible.
